Satisfaction (I can’t get no)…

Well, y’see…I would call it a case of start-itis….but I don’t think it is. I think it’s Project Dissatisfaction.

I finished the Sideshow Jaywalkers (as I call ‘em), and I finished the Pink Monkeys…and what did I throw on the needles? A pair of Carolina, Last Queen of Naples in that horrible, horrible Regia Orion Cotton yarn. The yarn that works on no set of needles that I own. I even went to the trouble of splitting the yarn into two balls so that I could knit both socks at once without having to revisit this yarn ever again.

I’m beginning to think that this yarn is mocking me. That it, and its self-patterning…self…are making fun of me. “I’ll be cotton, so I feed horribly through slightly arthritic fingers! I’ll be this odd size, so that I don’t quite look right on Size 1 Addis, but look horribly HUGE on size 2’s! I’ll make you doubt that this pattern even works! Muah-ha-ha-ha!”

You have NO idea how close I am to taking this skein of yarn outside and tossing it in the fire pit.

No. Idea.

In cheerier news, I have dug out the 3 skeins of Really Pretty Recent Additions to my “stash”. Bear in mind that Robin does not believe I should have a “stash”, and that I should purchase my yarn on an as-needed basis. He is fully of the thought that I am getting ahead of myself, and that I won’t ever catch up.

I was under the impression that this was the point? (grin)

Ah well. At least my stash isn’t as FREAKIN’ HUGE as this lady’s mother-in-law! This is, of course, something that I pointed out to Robin. I, at least, have the intention of feeding my own habit, and not that of the rest of my family.

Anyways…I’m at an impasse. I don’t want to play with the Regia. No offense to those who love the stuff, but I’ve dithered away a good chunk of a week on this yarn and this pattern, and…well…I don’t wanna. I don’t wanna play with the self-patterning yarn. Not right now. Maybe it will go back into my stash, to be dug out later and turned into Jaywalkers. Maybe it will go into the Fire Pit (where it can burn in teh umpteenth circle of teh hellzorz). Maybe…Maybe I’ll give it to someone who can use it (yeah, right, pffft!). In the meantime…I gotta make a decision.

Grape Louet Gems Baudelaires? Artyarns Ultramerino Elfine’s Socks? The new Yarn Harlot design that she recently put on her bloggity-blog…in that Lady Galt Kroy?

I have two skeins already wound into balls for another pair of socks for Robin, but I just finished a pair of RobinSocks, so I’m thinking I’d like to work on something for me, or for someone for Yule.

And then there’s the really BIG decision…do I REALLY want to spend the next two hours winding skeins of yarn?

Grrrrr……

SP11: w00t! :)

My SP11 Pal contacted me last week to let me know that my parcel was in the mail…wowzers! That didn’t take long…I’m still working on getting stuff together for the person I’m sending things to!

At any rate, all this arrived on Tuesday. I guess that the Mailman woke Robin up, because the package was waiting for me on the landing when I got home.

I descended on this package like a rabid hyena, let me tell you.

I didn’t have this book…and I had been drooling over it at our local Chapters last weekend (I put it aside in favour of one of the Yarn Harlot books that I hadn’t picked up yet). Now I’m glad I did! The yarn that my Pal has sent me (thank you!) is for making one of the projects in the book…the Candy Hearts on page 105. After looking through the book, Robin has told me that there is no way in hell that I am allowed to embroider “WoW” on them. I think he prefers the messages featured in the book (wink wink, nudge nudge).

He also really likes the Bob Dobbs sweater. Something tells me that I may be buying copious amounts of sweater wool sometime in the future. He’s already trying to get me off the sock kick…not that he’s complaining TOO hard. I just finished his Sideshow Husband Jaywalker socks :D

(This is true…I cast off the Sideshow Husband Jaywalkers. He proudly wore them to work last night. I’m going to have to tackle him this weekend so I can get pictures. In better light than my poor basement affords…) :D
