One of the ways we like to celebrate birthdays in our household is to take time off. My birthday, in February, was made more interesting by a case of Shingles. Luckily, Robin’s birthday has been eventful in ways that are more entertaining and include 100% less hospital visits.
We have had a great week so far, what with spending some time with friends, hanging out downtown and even taking a trip to the zoo. One of the highlights of the zoo trip was the amount of peafowl that we saw, particularly peacocks. Robin reminded me that when we visited a couple of years ago we saw a couple of groups of new baby peafowl. It looks like they’ve grown up, and that there were a lot of boys in the group.
We took most of the day to wander around, and only barely managed to view the whole zoo. There’s plenty left for our next trip, whenever it may be. We’re considering getting memberships so that we can go more often.
Today we decided to just stay in and rest up. We’ve either been out walking around or riding bicycles or just being busy for the past four or five days, so today seemed like a good opportunity to put the feet up. We even have a bottle of wine for the occasion (it’s a very good bottle of wine, by the way).
A very happy birthday to my sweetheart, the love of my life, and chief peacock wrangler. Here’s hoping that the rest of the year is as active and fun as the past week has been!
